The Dean of the Faculty of Science of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem announces a selection procedure for the position of an academic staff member at the Department of Biology.
1 position – Academic Staff Member with a focus on Botany, Ecology, Plant Physiology and Biology Education

Job Description:
Teaching and professional activities in the fields of botany, ecology and biology education. Involvement in teaching botanically and ecologically oriented courses, including practical and field-based teaching. Professional and research activities will focus primarily on plant ecology, biological invasions and related topics. During the first year of employment, the successful candidate is expected to prepare and submit a project or grant proposal.
The position will also include supervising and consulting on Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, participation in the department’s scientific research and outreach activities, and involvement in the organizational activities of the department.
Requirements:
- University degree in biology, ecology or a related field
- Professional specialization in botany and/or ecology
- Qualifications and potential to teach courses in botany, ecology and biology education
- Experience in research and/or publication activities
- Ability to work independently as well as as part of a team
- Knowledge of English sufficient for professional communication and teaching

Participants in the selection procedure are not entitled to reimbursement of any costs incurred in connection with the selection procedure. The Dean reserves the right to cancel the selection procedure.
The selection procedure will consist of a first round involving an assessment of the submitted application materials, which must be included with the application, and, where applicable, a second round consisting of personal interviews with shortlisted candidates. All applicants will be informed of the outcome no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the selection procedure.
