The Dean of the Faculty of Science of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem announces an internal recruitment procedure for the appointment of academic staff members at the Department of Mathematics.

1 position – Assistant Professor / Researcher

We are seeking candidates with a background in mathematics and professional expertise in applied mathematics and mathematical and computational modelling, with knowledge of differential equations and related numerical methods. The successful candidate will join a research team focusing on mathematical and computational modelling of physical and engineering processes and will participate in related research projects. For the Assistant Professor position, involvement in teaching is also expected.

Requirements:

• Ongoing or successfully completed doctoral studies in mathematical or computational modelling, applied mathematics, or a related field by the date of commencement at the latest
• Knowledge of differential equations and related numerical methods
• Knowledge of differential geometry and the ability to apply geometric methods in mathematical modelling
• Ability to conduct independent scientific research
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an international team
• Very good command of English enabling professional communication, academic publishing, and presentation of research results (at least B2 level; C1 level is an advantage)

Recruitment Procedure and Selection Criteria:

The recruitment procedure will consist of a first round involving an assessment of the submitted application materials, which must be included with the application, and, where applicable, a second round consisting of an in-person or remote interview with selected candidates. All applicants will be informed of the outcome no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the recruitment procedure. Participants in the recruitment procedure are not entitled to reimbursement of any costs incurred in connection with the recruitment procedure. The Dean reserves the right to cancel the recruitment procedure.
