The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem,
announces an external selection procedure for the position of an academic staff member at the Department of Pre-primary and Primary Education.
Position/Field/Number of vacancies:
1 position for Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor
Job description / Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will participate in teaching general pedagogical disciplines (e.g., pedagogical communication, pedagogical diagnostics, etc.) with a focus on the preparation of future primary school teachers. The workload also includes supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses, developing pedagogical, research, and publication activities, and potentially participating in international projects and professional cooperation in the field of pedagogy.
Qualification requirements:
University degree in an accredited study program in the field of pedagogy (e.g., general pedagogy, preschool or primary education pedagogy, primary school teaching, etc.) and familiarity with the preparation of future primary school teachers.
We expect practical teaching experience at some level of the educational system (primary, secondary, or tertiary), and the ability to perform independent as well as team-based teaching and research work. Experience with university teaching or involvement in research or development projects in pedagogy is an advantage.
A prerequisite is ongoing or completed doctoral studies (Ph.D.), or ongoing or completed habilitation or appointment procedure in the field.
Workload: 0.5 FTE
Expected start date: 2 February 2026

The selection procedure will take place in person. The applicant will briefly present their previous professional experience and outline their vision for working at the department. The selection will be based on the applicant’s academic rank, their creative/scientific activities, and the quality of their presented vision.
