Faculty of Environment at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem is opening a selection procedure for an academic staff position.
Number of vacancies: 1 academic staff position with demonstrable experience from the application sphere
Workload: part-time, by mutual agreement
Expected start date: September/October 2026
Place of work: Faculty of Environment, UJEP in Ústí nad Labem
We are looking for a new lecturer to join the team of the Department of Environmental Chemistry and Technology, who will participate in teaching Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in the areas of circular economy, environmental protection, and waste management. We are seeking an expert from practice—meaning a lecturer with demonstrable experience from the application sphere. In addition to theoretical teaching, the new lecturer will participate in teaching practically oriented courses and will lead application-oriented student project activities. We aim to bring the ever-changing demands of the application sphere closer to teaching, flexibly implement new trends, and reflect company requirements on students so they are well-prepared for the transition to employment upon graduation.
Requirements:

Experience in the areas of environmental protection, circular economy, chemistry and technology of environmental protection, waste, monitoring of substances in the environment, and related fields

Academic/pedagogical degree of Ph.D. in the aforementioned areas

Long-term demonstrable experience from the application sphere

Demonstrable experience from abroad

Knowledge of current Czech and European legislation in the field of environmental protection, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), etc.

Holder of relevant professional certifications (e.g., environmental sampling manager, hazardous waste properties assessment, etc.)

Experience with the preparation, management, or evaluation of environmental subsidy projects is an advantage

Experience in relevant professional committees, etc., is an advantage

Active knowledge of both spoken and written English

Driving license category B
Job Description:

Involvement in teaching chemical, technological, and environmental courses (Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs) with room for course innovation according to current market needs

Supervising student final theses and projects focused on solving specific problems from practice

Developing cooperation with the application sphere in the specified field

Participation in the promotion and presentation of the department, including the popularization of professional results
