The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem announces a selection procedure for the position of:
Academic Staff Member at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities
Assistant Professor with Ph.D. / Associate Professor
Number of vacancies / Position / Field of activity:
1 position – Assistant Professor with Ph.D. or Associate Professor in the field of social sciences.
Job description / Responsibilities:
In accordance with the Work Regulations for Employees of UJEP – Rector’s Directive No. 2/2019.
The position is open to candidates from various social science disciplines, especially sociology, psychology, media and communication studies, or related fields. An interdisciplinary profile and willingness to teach courses outside one’s own specialization are welcome. The specific job responsibilities will be agreed upon according to the applicant’s profile and the needs of the department.
Qualification requirements:
- Required education in the relevant field at the Ph.D. / Associate Professor level
- Potential for further career development in higher education, science, and research
- Supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses, project and publication activities
- Creative thinking and ability to work systematically and in a team
- Ability to publish internationally
- Ability to teach in Czech (Czech language proficiency level C1–C2) and English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
- Good communication, organizational, and coordination skills
- Diligence, flexibility, and clean criminal record
Workload:
50% to 100% of statutory working hours, or work agreement (DPP).

September 2026

Information about the selection procedure and selection criteria:
The first round of the selection procedure will consist of an assessment of the submitted documents, which must be included in the application.
